Young Women* Writers
Monday, July 9 & 23, 5:00-6:30pm
This group is open to all young women* writers ages 15-19. Through faciliated writing prompts and supportive critique, participants are encouraged to raise their voices and express themselves through a variety of written mediums. Writers of all skill levels and genres are encouraged to stop in and see if the group works for them. This group meets the second and fourth Mondays of every month from 5-6:30pm. Writing With Intent
Monday, July 9, 6:30-8:30pm
This facilitated group is open to all writers of fiction and creative non-fiction who want a serious group to provide constructive criticism, motivational exercises, and interpersonal accountability to keep their writing on track. We will do monthly exercises and critiques with an eye towards individual improvement and the eventual goal of publication. Writers are encouraged to bring copies of their work to share for critique. Disability 101: The Analysis
(Part 1 of 3)**
Thursday, July 19, 7:30-9:00pm
What is "disability?" How is disability socially constructed? Want to learn to understand the systematic oppression of disabled people just as well as you understand white and male supremacy? Join us as we unpack disability, ableism, able-bodied privilege, accessibility, and oppression. Learn about the difference between the "social" versus the "medical" model of disability and what its impacts are in our daily lives. Learn how ableism functions with other systems of oppression, power and privilege. ASL interpretation will be provided at this program.
**Charis Circle's 3-part series on disability will take place over the course of July, August, and September. All 3 programs will take place at wheel-chair accessible venues, and will have ASL interpretation available.
