Jeff Biggers Signing Books at Charis
Saturday, October 27, 11:00am-1:00pm
What do Nina Simone, Bessie Smith, Nikki Giovanni, the grandmother of all muckrakers (Anne Royall), the godmother of literary naturalism (Rebecca Harding), and the first American woman author to win the Nobel Laureate (Pearl Buck) have in common? From the first declaration of independence, to the abolitionist, labor, civil rights and environmental movements, and cutting edge arts, Appalachians have shaped the way we live in the United States. This is the main message behind the writings of author Jeff Biggers, who will be at Charis signing books on October 27 from 11:00am-1:00pm. Pick up a copy of The United States of Appalachia or one of his other books ahead of time at Charis, then bring it by to have Jeff sign it for you.
