Moon Manifesting with Carter Tracy
Thursday January 7, 7:30-9:00pm

Moon Manifesting with Carter Tracy

Through the ages, the changing phases of the Moon have symbolized the unfolding mysteries of existence. Traditions across the globe have used the New Moon as a time to call into being that which they most desired; the Full Moon as a time to release that which they most regret. The Moon Manifesting Workbook is a guide to harnessing the Moon's mythic power into the rhythms of your own life. Just in time for the new year, this workshop will help you learn about creating new beginnings on New Moon days, honoring the deepening clarity that comes with the Full Moon, and all the phases in between!

Cliterati Open No-mic featuring Kimberly Q

Charis & Cliterati pair up to present an inviting and fierce open mic & reading series on the 3rd Thursday of every month. Hosted by the anarchic spoken word team of Karen G and Theresa Davis, members of the Art Amok Slam Team, this series cultivates the voices of authors, novices and an assortment of poets, songstresses and story tellers. Our January feature is Kimberly "Q", aka The Lesbian Goddess: creatively experienced, theatrical gifted, erotically sensuous! The author of three sexually powerful and inviting books, Kimberly Q is sure to bring the heat on a cold winter's night.

Queer Literary Fiction Book Group

This facilitated book group meets from 7:00-8:30pm the 4th Wednesday of each month at Charis to discuss books which feature queer characters/ storylines as well as a strong attention to literary craft and style. January's selection is "A Map of Home" by Randa Jarrar, a very funny coming of age tale about an audacious Muslim girl growing up in Kuwait, Egypt and Texas. Jarrar explores familiar adolescent ground-stifling parental expectations, precarious friendships, sensuality and first love-but her exhilarating voice and flawless timing make this a standout.
