 Meet & Greet with Your Favorite Lesbian Authors
Friday, September 4, 8:00-9:30pm
 In celebration of the Decatur Book Festival and In The Life Pride weekend, Charis is hosting a meet-n-greet with some of your favorite lesbian fiction authors while they're in town. Come on out and mingle with Radclyffe, Fiona Zedde, Skyy, JM Redmann, Z Egloff, Kim Baldwin, VK Powell, D Jackson Leigh, & Jane Vollbrecht as they sign books and get to know their Atlanta fans. Feel free to bring books for them to sign, and of course, we'll have plenty on hand for purchasing if you want to improve your lesbian fiction collection! This event is co-sponsored by the Atlanta Queer Literary Festival (AQLF).

Faiths & Feminisms Interfaith Book Circle
Tuesday, September 8, 7:00-8:30pm
This open book group seeks to deepen the dialogue between different understandings of, and commitments to, living a life in which faiths and feminisms intersect and inform our work for justice and wholeness. We discuss books that invite us to expand our hearts and minds. Facilitators are group participants of many faiths who are committed to increasing mutual enrichment and understanding. All faiths and all definitions of feminism welcome! Join us this month on Tuesday the 8th (instead of the normal Monday meeting time) at the home of Linda Bryant. So no one will miss one of our great book choices, for this meeting, please bring passages from a favorite book that speaks to your unique spiritual journey or has deepened your understanding of your commitment to feminism.  Exploring Genders Through Reading

In this special issue of "GLQ," experts from a variety of disciplines discuss the future of intersexuality and what it means for theories of gender.

 Women, Hormones, & Options

Do you need information about peri-menopause, menopause, or hormone imbalance? Do you have questions about the way your hormone related experiences have been pathologized? Join this panel of professionals for an info-packed discussion on both traditional and non-traditional approaches to hormone issues for women. Panelists include: Dr. Marion Owen, MD; Patricia Kyritsi Howell, Registered Herbalist (American Herbalists Guild); and Kimberly Bonde, Licensed Acupuncturist and Registered Nurse. Virginia DuPre, counselor and art therapist, will facilitate the panel discussion.  Young Women* Writers

This group is open to all young women* writers ages 14-19. Through facilitated writing prompts and supportive critique, participants are encouraged to raise their voices and express themselves through a variety of written mediums.  Writing with Intent

This facilitated group is open to all writers of fiction and creative non-fiction who want a serious group to provide constructive criticism, motivational exercises, and interpersonal accountability to keep their writing on track. We do monthly exercises and critiques with an eye towards individual improvement and the eventual goal of publication. Writers are encouraged to bring copies of their work to share for critique.  Cliterati Open No-Mic with Aerle Taree

Charis & Cliterati pair up to present an inviting and fierce open mic & reading series on the 3rd Thursday of every month. Hosted by the anarchic spoken word team of Karen G and Theresa Davis, members of the Art Amok Slam Team, this series cultivates the voices of authors, novices and an assortment of poets, songstresses and story tellers. Cliterati is 8 years old and counting, open to all because ALL OPEN MOUTHS HAVE A VOICE. This September we are excited to feature a poetry performance by award-winning artist Aerle Taree, who is a founding member of the popular music group, Arrested Development. Aerle's featured reading will include poems from her book, Poetaree: The Jurisprudence of Life.
