Twice a month at Charis
"Do you keep a journal? Do you like to write poems? Is it your dream to be
on Def Poetry Jam or do you prefer to sit around a fire telling stories? Do
you want a place to share your uncensored thoughts or try your hand at a new
kind of expression without feeling the pressure to sound a certain way?
Whether you have been writing since kindergarten or have never put pen to
paper but have always wished you could, we welcome you to check out the
Charis Young women* Writers Group (ages 14-19). We meet twice a month to
support each other's words, stories, and ideas. The only thing necessary is
an open mind and a desire to write, so join us soon and help build an
artistic community that's as dynamic as your ideas and dreams."
This group very proud of its recently published book, Leaving Home, Becoming Home: Girls and Women Write About the Search for Self.
The anthology includes works by the Young women* Writers Group and many of their published mentors, including bell hooks, Alice Walker and Minnie Bruce Pratt. Pick up a copy at Charis Books! |
